2) Buddy/Feeder Piglets (Barrows): Available only to customers buying registered breeders or individuals that have completed one of our training classes on raising pigs.
Large Black Breeders (8 week old weaned piglets) are available Spring and Fall.

Pigs should never be alone as they are herd animals. This is especially true with boars as they need to be the King of their herd. A pig that is alone or isolated will quickly develop an attitude issue similar to what we would call "Cabin Fever". They may become destructive, hard to contain, difficult to manage, and not develop well. A Buddy piglet is a barrow that you can keep with your boar, gilt or both until you have enough pigs that your breeders are never left alone. We do not sell breeders that won't have a buddy. Please note that "never alone" has one exception and that is for sick or injured pigs that need to be isolated (quarantined) or left alone to heal from a mechanical injury. But even in these cases, a buddy can be beneficial.
Interstate Transport: If you looking to buy breeders and reside in another state (not Maine) we will work with you to ensure we meet your state import requirements. If this is your first time working this process have no worries we do most of the work and can walk you through the process and cost. Typically the buyer will need to obtain an Import Permit from your State Veterinarian or agricultural department. This import permit will need to be sent to us to fill out and provide to our accredited local Veterinarian who will do a sight inspection and provide a Veterinarian Certification of Inspection (VCI) that you will need on your person to legally transport your new pigs to your state.

Large Blacks are intended to live on pasture, woodlots, orchards, and crop fields - they are foragers. Because we care so much about these animals we will not sell to anyone that doesn't share our farm values in how to raise these pigs.

- Breeder selection is one of the most important things we do to preserve and improve the Large Black Pig.
- We will only sell breeders that are the best of the best for registration (less than 5% per year).
- Orders accepted for specific sire/dam.
- Orders for boar breeders need to be received prior to farrowing.
- All litters are registered with the Large Black Pig Breeders United.
- All hog registration paperwork will be completed by Greener Days Farm and sent directly to the new owner from the association.

Buddy Piglets are $175 each
Piglets can be held longer than 8 weeks for a boarding fee of $1.00 per day per piglet.
What happens after you order your piglets:
- We will send you updates along the way.
- A couple weeks before your piglets are ready for pickup we will work with you to arrange a specific pick-up time.
- On the day of pickup you will need a trailer or large dog crates to transport your piglets.
- Have plenty of bedding so the piglets bed down for the trip to their new home.
- Have water available for drinking and cooling.
