Private Training Classes:
Raising Pigs – Basics: $200 (4 hour classroom & hands-on training)
Interested in raising pigs or just learning more about pigs, then this training is for you! In our four hour training session, we will cover everything from planning and prepping to get piglets, all the way through getting them to freezer camp. The classroom training will cover a wide array of topics including: types of breeds, pig attributes, basic needs, fencing, rotational management, emergency prep and more. The hands-on portion of the training will focus on getting you comfortable working with piglets through market size pigs. We will show you tips and tricks for fencing, rotating and handling your pigs so that you successfully raise happy and healthy pigs. Once the training is done, we will continue to mentor you as needed while you learn with your new pigs.
Raising Pigs – Scaling Up: $250 (5 hour classroom training)
Are you ready to scale up your pig operation and head to market? Whether you have been raising pigs for years or just jumping into a large scale operation, there is a lot to learn and we are here to help you with the transition. This five hour classroom training will get you thinking about marketing, websites, social media, accounting, cash flow, taxes, logistics, equipment, and much, much more. We will give you the tools and ideas to help you develop your own business strategy and provide you on-going mentoring as you build up your pig operation.
Raising Pigs – Breeders: $200 (4 hour classroom & hands-on training)
Do you want to start your own breeding program on your farm? Are you wondering how to get started and what to expect? In our four hour training session, we cover everything from picking your breeding stock through weaning piglets. We will give you the knowledge and tools to not only be a breeder but become a successful breeder – and there is a difference! We will train you so that you can train your breeding stock.
Our classroom time will focus on topics from the basic needs of breeding stock through advance topics such as castrating, vaccinations programs, bio-security, and emergency care. The hands-on portion of the training focuses on getting you to feel comfortable and safe working with very large pigs. We teach you to understand herd dynamics and be the one in charge. We will show you tips and tricks to work with these giants in all situations including dealing with any potential emergencies. Once the class is done, the training really begins when your breeding stock arrives on your farm, and we are here to continue to provide guidance and mentoring as you learn with your new breeding stock.
